Picnicing with Bees and Beans

Summer is a great time of year to go out to your nearest park or open space of grass and enjoy the company of others on a checkered blanket with a basket of goodies. Ok, so this all sounds a little too Little Red Riding Hood to me, but today is Teddy Bear Picnic Day and a celebration seems to be only appropriate. However, I feel that teddy bears and other stuffed creatures would have very different tastes when it came to their picnics. Much akin to the classic "Dogs Playing Poker" painting found in so many individual's "man caves," the stuffed animals in our midst prefer to have civilized picnics indoors with tea and granola. Check it out for yourselves:

Very civilized, indeed.

As for the humans in the house, your Holiday Team loves picnics that do involve little baskets, checkered blankets, the outdoors, and most definitely baked beans. In honor, Happy Baked Bean Month! I have never quite understood the fascination of softened beans covered in flavored gelatinous goo especially when they include pork, bacon, and other strange ingredients. However, these tasty morsels have become a staple among many American households. And the dog on the Bush's Baked Beans commercial is awfully cute!

Yummy-tastic!

Finally, today is Don't Step on a Bee Day. Due to copyright laws, we are not actually able to celebrate the holiday with the creators' permission (which, of course, we didn't get), so I can't actually say anything about celebrating it. However, the holiday was created to remind children not to step on bees when they are playing outside in their bare feet (darn kids, put some shoes on!). Good thing we're not kids, and, just to note, we were quite careful to not step on a bee. Yay for not being stung by bees. Plus, bees aren't too common where we live in the city.
Don't do this!

Here's to a bee sting-free day at your teddy's picnic!
CS, out.
