First up is Happiness Happens Day. Back in 1998, the Secret Society of Happy People admitted their first "Cheerful Charter Member" from Kansas and the society became an official society. The society, created by Pamela Gail Johnson, lives by the simple credo of recognizing the happy moments in your life, enjoying them, and never raining on other people's happiness. To celebrate this great day, the Holiday Hero joined the society as an "Amused Member" and we enjoyed the day's happiness to its fullest! From wandering around Albuquerque to spending time with friends working on art projects, happiness abounded! The Society would be so proud!
Finding a sandwich that big for very few bucks will make anybody happy!
Even our friends from around the country celebrated as well!
What could make you happier than a good haul from a trip to the thrift store?
Thanks to Amanda for all of the great happiness pictures!
Second on the list, we have The Date to Create. If procrastination is your game, today is the day to get off your butt and start that project you've been sitting on. The Holiday Hero has a special art show coming up in November, so he decided to go to a friend's place and get started. He also helped said friend with a project of his own. Here's what they did:
Very funky!
Amanda also made some creative pieces today ranging from arts and crafty things to syllabi!
No procrastinating here!
Causes nothing but problems!
It can't even go very far here!
Tee hee...slobber!
Finally, we have one of the greatest holidays we've celebrated yet: Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day. Unfortunately, it was created by a couple who seriously know how to ruin awesome-sounding holidays. They created this one and have some really boring ways to execute it. Rather than doing exactly what the name suggests, they are going out of their way to make it as "old lady" as possible. We did it our own way too! After going to a local grocery store, we realized that they had no zucchini to be found. Did that deter us? No way! We bought the next closest thing: a cucumber! After buying said veggie, we brought it home, attached a card, and waited until nightfall. Then I slyly sneaked the zucchini-wannabe to our new across-the-street neighbor's porch and planted the veggie. We're not sure what happened to the cucumber, but we are certainly hoping they got a kick out of it! What do you think? A Facebook friend, April, also was able to send her neighbors a cucumber earlier this morning, so way to go April!
Cards don't stick well to round vegetables!
Ready for sneaking!
And we're done!
CS, out.
