Our first holiday is National Dance Day. It was created by Nigel Lythgoe (a producer and judge for "So You Think You Can Dance") and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton proposed a resolution to get the nation up and moving. The first Dance Day took place on the last Saturday in July of 2010 as it does this year. For the celebration this year, the Dizzy Feet Foundation commissioned a hip hop routine as well as a Zumba routine. Hopefully, you were able to get up and shake your groove thang! We sure did! ;)
Next up is National Day of the Cowboy. This holiday was created in order to preserve the heritage of the pioneer as well as the culture of the American cowboy. Well, we might not have donated to the cause, but we certainly had a grand time looking and acting like a cowboy with all of our friends!
Sexy cowboy man!
Complete with bean pot!
Mom lookin' cool!
Hangin' with the horses
And Beth from Ohio also joined in the celebration with an evening of country music!
Yeah, she costs between $100-$135 depending on the package. Yowza! I guess
that's the price of humiliation.
Finally, we have the Festival of Dancing Ghosts originating in China. This celebration is much like Halloween in Europe and America with the belief that ghosts of ancestors are walking the earth in the 7th lunar month on the 15th day. The Chinese will leave offerings of food out for these ghosts in order to satiate their appetites. So, keep your spirits happy and well-fed!
What? No zombies?
Alright! That's what we've got for today! Enjoy.
CS, out.
