Take Me Out to Serendipity!

And we're back again on Saturday, August 18! Our celebrations today are rather wonderful and beautiful and all kinds of happy! Did you like my poem? Haha! I doubt it, but today is the day to celebrate the awful poetry we find (mostly in high school) around the world because today is Bad Poetry Day. Isn't that just fantastic? Everyone, I'm sure, has read at least one piece of amazing poetry by an amazing poet (usual old white guys that haven't been around for decades, but there are a few others), but we aren't commemorating those today. Rather, we are bringing the spotlight to those poets who, generally, think they are great poets but truly aren't. One fantastic example that Justin brought to my and the Holiday Hero's attention is one that we definitely should have thought of before: Vogon poetry!
                                                                Oh, the Vogonity!
Holiday Hero and some special Facebook friends were able to share their "amazing" poetry for this epic holiday. Here are some examples: Your heart is like an orange / Citrusy and full of pulp / If only it were Sunny D. --that was a HH original;  Plop! / I feel much relieved. / But what is that smell? --Justin;  Bad Poetry Day / exists not for the haiku / who simply observes --Jessica M.; I'm not liking this. Despite being chock full of interesting factoids, it was bad.--Space (not sure this was a poem, but who cares)! Thanks to everyone for spreading the awesome bad poetry.
Next up we have Mail Order Catalog Day. Again on Facebook, HH was able to show an example of something he would love found specifically in a mail order catalog.
Yep, a fake rock found in Sky Mall for $119.00! Ridiculous.
We also had a couple of physical catalogs available thanks to my lovely sister-in-law Erika:
 Oh yes, the Halloween edition!

And last, but not least, we have Serendipity Day. For part of the amazing holiday fun we always love having, we decided to accompany Justin and Julie to the local minor league baseball park and watch the Isotopes kick ass against New Orleans. We found it rather serendipitous that driving as car pool rather than taking two cars we were able to park for free! Woot! Serendipity in action!

Holiday Hero's first beer drank while at a baseball game-->
 Aren't we all so cute?

And there you have it! One more day of holiday awesomeness in the bag!
CS, out.
